Position: County Caseworker 1 (Local Government) - Schuylkill County MH/ID

This role supports individuals and families by providing basic social services and case management in a learning-focused environment.

As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Professional Growth:Participate in training that builds knowledge of mental health practices, resources, and agency procedures
  • Resource Learning:Review community supports and observe experienced staff to understand available services
  • Client Support: Assist people in developing skills that help them address social, emotional, and economic challenges
  • Service Coordination: Make referrals and connect clients with public and private community agencies
  • Case Documentation:Record activities, summaries, reports, and service updates using required agency methods
  • Plan Development:Create and update Individualized Service Plans and ensure services follow the established plan
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • On-call is required.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening and a medical examination.
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
