Position SummaryThe MTSS Specialist works with school and district administration as part of a team to support students who are facing challenges to their learning and development. The MTSS Specialist works closely with school‑based personnel who deal mainly with disciplinary actions to assist in designing a restorative justice framework. The purpose of the specialist is to implement processes, procedures, and strategies to build, promote, recognize, and sustain positive student well‑being in an effort to avoid behaviors that may lead to or have led to disciplinary actions.
The specialist serves as the lead for MTSS and other relevant team members by ensuring that MTSS tiers of support are implemented, consistently applied, and carried out in a timely manner. The specialist will oversee and coordinate the caseloads of assigned youth advocates, and is expected to be the lead member of the MTSS Team at their assigned building and participate in other cross‑functional teams that relate to MTSS.
- Designs and implements a Restorative Justice Framework.
- Participates in training school staff on Restorative Justice Practices.
- Coordinates referral system with building administration.
- Assists students in understanding the impact of their behavior, recognizing their value to the community, and teaches skills and techniques intended to prevent further Code of Conduct violations and victimization.
- Develops, documents, and maintains ongoing intervention plans.
- Maintains ongoing restorative justice circles and plans to help decrease student behavioral disruptions within the classroom.
- Collaborates with school personnel to identify appropriate restorative age- and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Completes documentation including but not limited to progress notes.
- Prepares and presents reports showing program effectiveness.

Skills:
Communicates clearly and compellingly with diverse stakeholders in both oral and written forms; anticipates and responds to customer needs in a high-quality and courteous manner.
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of successful teaching or student support experience.
- Strong understanding of MTSS/RTI frameworks, intervention strategies, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Experience in coaching or facilitating adult learners is a plus.
- Knowledge of academic and behavioral screening and progress monitoring tools.
