Benton Harbor, MIAs a business unit of IDEX Corporation, GAST Manufacturing has a long history of being the leader in design and manufacturing of quality air-moving products.  We specialize in offering cost effective solutions for a wide variety of industries including industrial manufacturing, healthcare, and environmental cleanup applications.  We are looking to add more talent to our team.

Scope of Role:
Machinists ensure all products are made safely, with the highest quality, and in an efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
* Plans machining in cell by studying work orders, blueprints, set up sheets to ensure quality production.
* Sets up and operates various machines as rotation takes place within a work cell.
* Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
* Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
* Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts.
* Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
* Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
* Meet production schedules.
* Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning, and tool replacement.
* Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
* Ensure that the machines are operating correctly and that pieces are cut to perfection
* Perform maintenance on the machines and replace dull or aged parts as necessary.

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
* No safety incidents
* Quality Audit first pass yield
* Hourly Rate i.e. units per man hour

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* At least one year of experience operating CNC machines
* Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
* Completion of an apprenticeship or training program is preferred

SKILLS and ABILITIES:

* Technical ability and basic math skills
* Ability to use precision gauges and measuring instruments
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement
* Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
* Ability to operate a computer, fax machine, and other office equipment
* Ability to work as part of a team
