Job SummaryThe Quality Assurance/Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, customer expectations, internal quality standards, and food‑safety policies.
Primary Functions- Inspect inbound and outbound products.
- Take temperature and culture measurements.
- Document all inspections and data.
- Perform assigned tasks related to quality and food safety.
- Ensure company products meet or exceed quality standards and food regulations.
- Monitor and enforce organic handling practices.
- Conduct Critical Control Point testing of the HACCP program.
- Operate PAA pumps and sanitizing outlets to meet organic wash requirements.
- Operate chlorine pumps and sanitizing outlets to meet chlorination wash requirements.
- Pull samples for shelf‑life, microbiological, and customer requirements.
- Perform pre‑operational sanitation testing, including ATP testing of surfaces.
- Monitor and test metal detection units to ensure metal‑free production.
- Conduct packaging and seal testing for various container types.
- Calibrate weighing scales, thermometers, and all applicable testing tools.
- Monitor GMP to ensure a food‑safe environment.
- Enforce color codes and sanitation for organics, allergens, and other requirements.
- Manage hold, release, and rework programs.
- Evaluate shelf‑life and conduct sensory testing as required.
- Maintain paperwork filing and documentation.
- Operate other cleaning chemicals as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Stand, sit, walk for extended periods.
- Frequent use of hands for grasping and writing.
- Occasional bending, stopping, reaching, and climbing.
- Occasional lifting of 5–50 pounds.
- Occasional use of cutting utensils (e.g., knives, peeler).
- Exposure to product fumes such as onions, peppers.
- Exposure to temperatures 45 °F or lower.
- Exposure to chemicals such as chlorine.
- Work overtime as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Food‑quality inspection experience; produce experience preferred.
- Good communication skills; basic written and spoken English.
- Computer skills:
Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Office. - HACCP certification or participation in HACCP training.
- Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions.
- High level of problem‑solving skills.
