Loan Assistant – Malvern National Bank
General Summary
Under general supervision the Loan Assistant provides clerical services that support the Saline County lending staff. The role ensures all required documentation is received and provided timely to Loan Operations to complete the lending process. The individual must display superior customer service and communication skills, maintain confidentiality, and comply with all internal policies and legal requirements.
- Consistently deliver phenomenal customer service with aggressive friendliness and honest, positive, and confident behaviors (in‑house and on the phone).
- Provide loan information to existing customers (e.g., payments, taxes, transfers, balances).
- Schedule appointments with lenders and assist loan customers, Loan Officers, and Loan Operations with all aspects of the loan process.
- Order credit reports, flood determinations, appraisals, title work, verifications, and any other supporting loan documentation.
- Order inspections on construction loans and advance funds; perform construction loan draws once approved by the loan officer.
- Maintain construction loan files for each officer and monitor loan collateral, financial and covenant expectations.
- Work with tax accountants on behalf of business customers and coordinate loan closing with borrower, lender and other parties.
- Review all loan closing documents for accuracy and ensure all collateral is properly secured; close loans; fund loans and prepare loan transaction tickets.
- Ship closed loan file to Loan Operations and complete any follow‑up, collateral or documentation expectations.
- Contribute to branch goals through intentional conversations and relationship building to cross‑sell other bank financial services.
- Successfully complete compliance training; adhere to internal controls and procedures, and understand and comply with all bank policies, regulations and laws applicable to the position.
- Maintain customer confidence and protect bank operations through utmost confidentiality and confidentiality.
- Perform any other related duties as may be required or assigned.
- Champion the MNB mission statement with pride and enthusiasm.
- Maintain a high level of cooperation and rapport to ensure accuracy and efficient operations.
- Perform all aspects of the position with a coachable spirit.
- Collaborate in sharing new ideas that enhance customer experience, improve profitability and provide efficiency.
- Participate in volunteer opportunities surrounding the bank.
- Exhibit professionalism at all times.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business field or four (4) years related work experience/training in business field (e.g., accounting, finance, management, real estate, insurance) required.
- Minimum two (2) years of work experience in a lending department required.
- One (1) year of loan assistant experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel) and standard office equipment.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organizational abilities.
- Capability to work independently and meet time constraints.
- Ability to understand and comply with policies, laws and regulations.
Requires manual dexterity, ability to sit for extended periods, use hands for data entry, occasionally lift up to 20 lbs., and frequently use a computer and phone system.
