Middle School Principal – Bentonville Schools Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, the principal leads and supervises the administration of the educational program of the Middle School to promote the development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law. The principal also provides leadership in program development and improvement and supports professional staff development.
EssentialFunctions
- Develops and administers school programs consistent with district goals and objectives.
- Provides leadership and direction to staff for evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Promotes a safe school environment conducive to individualized instruction, collaborative curriculum development, and student learning.
- Ensures Board policies and procedures are implemented and followed at the school.
- Continually acquires professional knowledge and stays current in educational developments by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or conducting research.
- Encourages staff to grow professionally and experiment with new teaching approaches.
- Organizes and maintains accurate record-keeping and reporting for all student activities, attendance, and records as required by law.
- Co-ordinates the work of staff and district program leaders to implement instructional programs and teaching practices.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and works with teachers to modify instruction for student needs, including special needs students.
- Co‑ordinates with the central office in recruitment, employee file maintenance, collective bargaining agreements, corrective action, and other human resource issues.
- Organises regular meetings with teachers for instruction technique development.
- Involves staff in program evaluation and new program planning.
- Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensures student conduct conforms to school standards and district policies.
- Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees as per the district evaluation plan, and recommends goals, improvement areas, and continuing employment.
- Organises and manages the school’s budgetary and financial affairs consistent with district policies.
Performs other related tasks assigned by the Superintendent and other central office administrators.

Travel RequirementsTravels to district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards- Works in standard office and school building environments.
- Must be capable of safely traversing all areas of the assigned school facility.
- Must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, and ability to differentiate instruction based on student learning styles and behavioral management.
- Knowledge of Middle School curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation, and staff supervision.
- Knowledge of data systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
- Ability to use computer networks and software applications.
- Ability to develop and implement projects.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and manage conflicting time constraints.
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation regarding leadership, performance, and professional growth.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with others.
- Valid Arkansas teaching license.
- Valid Arkansas administrative licensure for appropriate level.
Bachelor's and Master's degree from an accredited college.
Experience- Successful teaching experience at the Middle School level.
- Successful administrative experience at the Middle School level preferred.
