Electrical Designer II (30679)
OverviewHFA, a multidisciplinary, employee‑owned firm, seeks an experienced electrical designer to work on retail building projects across the continental U.S. The role offers large responsibility, collaboration with engineers and architects, and client‑facing opportunities.
Job Responsibilities- Coordinate with the Electrical Engineer and/or Design Lead to communicate with clients, deliver completed construction documents, and provide construction administration support for most project types.
- Develop, implement, and draft construction documents independently for the majority of projects, solving medium to difficult design challenges.
- Apply knowledge of NEC and other national standards to simple projects with minimal oversight.
- Apply basic understanding of energy codes and photometric calculations to power and lighting design, and select appropriate lighting systems and controls.
- Perform fault‑current calculations and produce 1‑Line diagrams for simple systems.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit; train new employees on company standards, drafting techniques, and NEC questions.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to develop construction documents based on client requirements; perform project‑management, quality‑control, and other duties as required.
- Maintain high quality control on own and others’ projects for final review by the Electrical Engineer or Design Lead.
- In some cases, maintain direct client contact.
- Work within established budgets and contribute to financial success of projects.
- Edit specifications for small to medium‑size projects.
Education Requirements: BSEE or equivalent experience.
Licensure Requirements: None required.
Management Requirements: 0–3 staff.
