WhatYou’ll Do
As a Fire Protection Engineer II at HFA, you’ll lead or support a wide range of commercial, industrial, and retail projects from concept through construction. You’ll collaborate with other engineers and architects to deliver coordinated, code‑compliant systems that perform when it matters most.
In This Role, You Will- Independently manage multiple projects and client types with minimal supervision.
- Lead small client teams (1-5 staff) or oversee portions of large‑scale projects.
- Design and draft fire suppression, alarm, and life safety systems, including riser diagrams, underground piping, and smoke control systems.
- Apply NFPA, IBC, and IFC codes to ensure full compliance and system performance.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, equipment selection, and specification writing.
- Collaborate directly with clients, internal engineers, and project teams.
- Train and mentor junior staff on company standards, software, and design best practices.
- Provide quality control reviews and assist with project budgets and documentation.
- BS in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience designing fire protection or alarm systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Proficiency in Auto Sprink, Revit, and related design software.
- Strong understanding of NFPA, ICC, IBC, and IFC codes.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.
- Ability to independently solve complex design challenges and deliver detailed construction documents.

- BSME, BS Fire Engineering – 3+ years of experience in fire alarm design.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
