Overview
Pafford Medical Services is now accepting applications for a Critical Care Paramedic (Ground) position in Benton County, Arkansas. This is a full-time, nonexempt role in the Ground Operations division, reporting to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities- Provides and directs fast, advanced life support and direct patient care at the scene and during transport, including but not limited to peripheral and intraosseous access, supraglottic airways, endotracheal intubation, cricothyrotomy, fluid and drug therapy, cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretations, defibrillation, and cardioversion.
- Recognizes and understands a medical emergency and makes reasonable differential diagnoses.
- Performs critical physical examinations.
- Recognizes common cardiac dysrhythmias and understands treatment modalities for life-threatening dysrhythmias.
- Understands and administers pharmacological treatment for critically ill or injured patients.
- Addresses potentially life-threatening non-cardiac emergencies and initiates emergency therapy as needed to preserve life.
- Assesses and addresses medical and emotional needs of victims to reduce mortality and morbidity.
- Maintains the scene and directs all first responders (e.g., EMRs, Police, EMTs) in the absence of supervisory personnel.
- Maintains quality patient care as established by the Company.
- Files standardized reports of patient information and care for hospital and administrative use, including treatment, diagnosis, disposition, and billing data.
- Maintains effective communication with the physician on duty to relay patient condition and obtain orders; follows written protocols when a physician cannot be contacted.
- Transports the ill and injured to appropriate medical facilities; operates emergency vehicles safely; cleans and maintains equipment; completes patient statistics and medical information forms.
- Maintains ongoing professional development to sustain annual paramedic certification and comply with state requirements.
- Complies with all Pafford Policies and Procedures and with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate s degree or higher preferred. - Unrestricted Paramedic Licensure/Certification and Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C).
- CPR for Health Care Providers (AHA, ASHI, ECSI).
- ACLS, PALS certifications.
- Unrestricted state driver s license.
- ICS 100 & 200; 300 & 400 (preferred but not required); FEMA IS-800; NIMS 700.
- CEVO or EVOC required by date of hire.
- Advanced knowledge of paramedic skills; CCP-C or FP-C certification within six months of hire.
- Proficient knowledge of local street systems, addresses, and EMS equipment.
- Ability to perform technical medical skills with high accuracy; ability to handle emotional and medical needs of patients; maintain professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments within established procedures and guidelines.
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA and related standards; meet productivity requirements.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Lift and carry up to 150 lbs.
- Ability to sit, read, use a computer, perform lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, walking, standing, pushing and pulling as needed.
- Clear communication abilities (in person, on two-way radios, and by telephone) and visual acuity to operate a computer terminal and read.
