Position SummaryWe’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team dedicated to the Associate Productivity Experience (APEX) org within Walmart Global Tech. In this high‑impact role, you will design and build next‑generation, AI‑based data solutions that directly influence the day‑to‑day operations of Walmart across multiple global markets. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Big Data, GCP and AI engineering principles.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Data Strategy:
Understand and apply the defined strategy to routine business problems. - Data Transformation and Integration:
Extract data from identified databases and create pipelines; transform data into a relevant structure. - Data Source Identification:
Support priority requirements and service level agreements; identify suitable data sources and perform quality checks. - Data Modelling:
Analyse complex data elements, build conceptual, physical and logical models; develop data warehouse and mart designs. - Code Development and Testing:
Write code, create test cases, prove concepts, deploy to production; maintain documentation. - Problem Formulation:
Translate business problems into data‑related or mathematical solutions and recommend methods. - Applied Business Acumen:
Provide recommendations, develop business cases, translate requirements, recommend new processes. - Data Governance:
Establish, modify and document governance projects; implement practices and educate stakeholders. - Expert Guidance: provide expert advice and align efforts to meet customer and business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience in Scala/Python (PySpark), distributed databases, Kafka and multi‑threading.
- Strong CS fundamentals, data structures, algorithms and problem solving skills.
- Hands‑on experience in SQL and query optimization.
- Experience building data ingestion frameworks and consumption patterns.
- Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow, Automic, etc.
- Experience with streaming data via Kafka or structured streaming.
- CI/CD automation experience with Git, Jenkins, and looper.
- Exposure to visualization tools such as Tableau, Power
BI, Looker. - Knowledge of LLM agent development, prompt engineering and fine‑tuning LLMs.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
