Position Summary:
We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Data Science to lead and create initiatives for future strategies across Walmart’s omnichannel supply chain. This high‑impact, high‑visibility role expects immediate results and involves developing a long‑term, transformative strategy for Walmart’s rapidly growing omnichannel business.
- Manage and execute entire analytical projects from start to finish, including cross‑functional project management, data collection and manipulation, analysis and modeling, and communication of insights and recommendations.
- Build scalable and complex supply‑chain models and processes to optimize strategies with the goal of delivering an excellent customer experience while balancing operating cost and asset efficiency.
- Develop original and creative solutions to improve existing business processes within supply chain, using statistical analysis, regression modeling, and optimization.
- Identify areas of opportunity and influence execution of results via cross‑functional participation to enable quick wins and continuous improvement.
- Create and deploy robust metrics and dashboards to enable tangible transformation.
- Build models to analyze the supply‑chain network needed to support future sales growth with scenario‑modeling capabilities.
- Develop inventory planning and distribution strategy to optimize cost to serve and improve customer experience and stock availability.
- Develop optimization logic and a tool to determine truck‑load lane strategy for outbound transportation, balancing cost and SLA requirements.
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 5 years’ experience in an analytics‑related field; OR Master’s degree and 3 years’ experience; OR 7 years’ experience in an analytics or related field.
- Preferred qualifications: Data science, machine learning, optimization models experience;
PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Econometrics; experience with Python, Spark, Scala, or R; supervisory experience; familiarity with open‑source frameworks (e.g., scikit‑learn, Tensor Flow, PyTorch); knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards and digital accessibility best practices.
Competitive base pay range: $110,000 – $220,000 per year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock options.
