Senior Director, Claims Management (USA)

As Senior Director of Walmart Claims Services Strategy and Transformation, you will work with the Vice President and fellow Senior Directors to set the strategic direction, operational excellence, and lead transformation of the Claims Services department. You will drive innovation, process improvement, and best‑in‑class claims management, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and Walmart's business objectives. The role requires deep industry expertise in claims operations, program management, financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, and talent development.
Key Responsibilities- Develop master transformation work‑plans across multiple work streams of Walmart Claim Services, including workers’ compensation, general liability, auto liability, and property claims.
- Partner with Senior Directors of claim operations, systems, data, analytics, strategy, and finance to document current state processes and future state needs, building journey maps for how process and roles will change through transformation.
- Serve as a deep subject‑matter expert in implementing industry emerging best practices and innovative solutions, including generative‑AI and process automation to streamline claims operations and improve financial outcomes.
- Ensure transformation remains within compliance with regulations and Walmart’s internal standards.
- Collaborate with business partners to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
- Provide exceptional service to associates, customers, and partners throughout the claim’s lifecycle.
- Define and implement program strategies impacting the entire claims domain, incorporating business requirements and priorities.
- Set goals, stage gates, critical delivery paths, and key deliverables for large‑scale, cross‑functional claims and transformation programs.
- Prepare benefits realization plans and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Identify and allocate internal and external resources for program success.
- Anticipate risks and challenges, communicate proactively with stakeholders, and develop scenario‑based corrective actions.
- Define and track performance measures and milestones, generating improvement plans as needed.
- Build consensus in sensitive situations, presenting conflicting perspectives constructively.
- Present to organization‑wide audiences, leveraging data, analytics, and financial acumen.
- Act as a trusted advisor, influencing stakeholders to take necessary actions and coaching others in effective communication.
- Create, manage, and monitor program budgets for multiple initiatives.
- Oversee delivery schedules, cost expenditures, and manage delays with stakeholders.
- Project ROI and define financial performance metrics for programs.
- Define performance objectives and metrics for tracking program completion across claims products and domains.
- Engage with business partners to design and monitor program success metrics.
- Make proactive decisions regarding program risks, forecasts, budgets, and milestones.
- Analyze business performance and trends, including competitors, customers, and partners.
- Participate in organizational strategy development and demonstrate how the function contributes to results.
- Build business cases for major initiatives using economic, financial, and organizational data.
- Maintain current knowledge of insurance, claims processing, and TPA industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Participate in developing domain strategy with executive leaders.
- Evaluate and validate business cases for projects and initiatives.
- Approve strategies, initiatives, and projects, and contribute to strategic decision‑making.
- Model industry practices and engage externally to build Walmart’s brand.
