Candidates must reside within a 30‑mile radius of Bentonville, AR. This is a field‑based position that requires working in the field.
- Perform routine installation, maintenance, and repair activities for network systems including voice, data, network, transport, and video equipment
- Complete post‑installation tests for call processing functionality and AMA testing
- Coordinate central office/network equipment, card/SFP insertions, translations, fiber cross‑connects and inside wiring activities
- Perform OTDR tests and understand results
- Fixed wireless installation and maintenance
- Safely operate and maintain a clean and organized company service vehicle
- Work in both inside and outside environments
- Provide stand‑by and on‑call coverage
- Maintain central office and remotes including routine and preventive maintenance items
- Complete necessary safety training and follow safety standards and regulations
- Report to the Network Infrastructure Local Manager
- Ability to:
- Perform OTDR tests and understand results
- Understand CLR/DLR and engineering job packs
- Distinguish colors in use of color‑coded cable
- Use equipment with maximum load capacity of 275 lbs.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. and work aloft
- Successfully complete required safety training
- Work assigned schedules and extended hours including day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours
- Respond to after‑hour callouts
- Complete battery and generator testing
- Basic technology and math skills
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record
- Knowledge in the following areas:
- Cyan nodes
- SONET OC3/12/48 installation, testing, and troubleshooting
- WDM/CWDM/DWDM installation, testing, and troubleshooting
- Fiber training
- Previous central office (CO) training
- Experience with the following vendors/models of transport equipment:
- Optelian WDM/CWDM/DWDM
- Juniper
- Fujitsu
- Wide Bank DCS
- Experience with the following models/vendors of test equipment:
- Viavi Smart OTDR
- Viavi 5800
- Midtronics battery test set
- Certifications or training directly related to the position
- Two‑year technical degree in computers or electronics, or the equivalent in work experience
Associate's Degree in a technical discipline and 2‑3 years technical/telephony experience; or 4+ years of directly related telephony experience; or an equivalent combination of education and directly related telephony experience. This is a safety‑sensitive position.
