Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor and supervision of the Meter Foreman; assists in ensuring that the City’s meter system, including the Automated Metering Infrastructure is operating correctly and in accordance with AWWA and City standards.

Technology Knowledge:
Meter AMI System Software, Executime, Microsoft Outlook, Workorder Management System, Esri products, and BambooHR
Assists in the installation, testing, calibration, repairing, and replacing of residential and commercial water meters.
Completes work orders from the Utility Billing department regarding meter infrastructure issues.
Assists in the maintenance and operation of the AMI system.
Evaluates and interprets water usage information from the AMI system.
Investigates potential leaks on both the City and customer sides of the meter.
Assists in maintaining and facilitating the manufacturer testing of large wholesale meters.
Assists in keeping accurate records pertaining to water meters and all associated maintenance procedures.
Assists the Water Department employees with problems concerning water meter installation and on-site repairs.
Ability to use basic plumbing tools, climb ladders, and stand for long periods of time.
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures related to working with mechanical equipment.
This position is considered a first responder in the event of a citywide emergency or disaster situation. During such an event, this position will respond and perform tasks that are assigned based on the need of the situation.
Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules may be subject to change in order to meet City needs or operational requirements. Attendance at work and the ability to get along with the public, supervisors, and co-workers are essential elements of this position. Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three (1-3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Possess a Backflow Inspection Specialist Certificate
- Possess or has the ability to obtain a Class IV Water Distribution Operator License
- Able to work overtime as required
