Principal, Software Engineer – Enterprise Device Management
Join Walmart's Global Technology team as a Principal Software Engineer focused on building an Enterprise Device Management platform. This role leverages AI to provide predictive support and efficient issue resolution for millions of customers worldwide.
Base Pay Range$/yr - $/yr
What You'll Do- Lead the design, development, and launch of large high-impact applications, services, and systems.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including business, product, and engineering—to understand business problems, draft technical requirements, design, develop, test, and deploy services and systems.
- Establish and enforce quality processes such as design reviews, code reviews, operational excellence reviews, and root cause analysis to deliver high‑quality, high‑availability, scalable, and performant systems.
- Develop subject‑matter expertise in the payroll space and represent the team in technical and business forums.
- 10+ years of industry experience building highly available systems.
- End‑to‑end ownership of complex projects from inception to launch.
- Effective problem‑solving and design‑tradeoff skills, balancing long‑term and short‑term tradeoffs.
- Experience with React, iOS, Android, Node.js, and Java.
- Proficiency in API development with Node.js and Graph
QL. - Advanced knowledge of distributed system design, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Expertise in service‑oriented architecture and relational/No
SQL databases. li>Experience with CI/CD and operational excellence best practices. - Strong communication and collaboration skills; consensus building, conflict resolution, influence, and persuasion.
- Mentoring and coaching junior engineers.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience in software engineering, or 7 years of experience in software engineering.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience; knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards and digital accessibility best practices.
