We are looking for a passionate and innovative software engineer to join Traffic Foundation within Walmart’s Global Technology Platform group. Traffic Foundation is empowering application teams at Walmart to reach their customers in the fastest, most efficient way possible. We build and design systems handling millions of requests per second, play a critical role in scaling Walmart systems under the extremely high‑traffic situations, and provide tools to accelerate, secure, and distribute traffic to all the right places.

Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at , through one of our mobile apps, or in‑store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in‑store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What you’ll do: In this role, you will get to design and build high-performance, distributed systems, at massive scale. Working with teams across E‑Commerce, Stores, and everything in between to make Walmart technology the fastest and most resilient in the industry. This critical role will be responsible for leading and participating in medium to large scale, complex, cross‑functional projects. Capable of taking complex problem domains, dissecting them until they’re well understood and delivering excellently engineered solutions.

What you’ll bring:

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Extensive experience in Java, Spring Boot, SQL, JavaScript and familiarity with Node.js or Rust is a must.
• Prior experience working on high‑performing applications is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of system design and architecture and proven ability to contribute to architecture decisions.
• Excellent coding skills with a focus on quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Excellent issue triaging and troubleshooting skills to resolve critical production issues.
• Proven experience in a high‑paced team environment, preferably working on Tier 0 products.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
• Demonstrated ownership mentality with the ability to take responsibility for projects from inception to completion, ensuring all aspects are completed to high standards.
• Experience with version control systems like Git and with K8s and Docker or similar containerization and orchestration platforms.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience with cloud computing platforms like Google Cloud, or Azure will be a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
• Ability to understand best practices regarding system security measures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proven track record of learning new technologies and skills on the job.
• Willingness to keep up‑to‑date with the latest technologies and apply them to the current projects.
• A positive and flexible attitude towards working in a rapidly changing and high‑pressure environment.
