Job Description

Berea Corps HR Systems Associate at Berea College is a grant‑funded, one‑year contract position (June 1, 2025 – May 31, 2026) with the possibility of an extension. The role provides new HR professionals the opportunity to rapidly grow their careers in a highly collaborative organization. The Associate works closely with the Manager of HR Systems and Services to maximize the College’s workforce management platform, HRIS, benefits, and time‑keeping systems, and to design and deliver training for faculty and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with refining NEOED, the College’s workforce management platform, to facilitate career development and improve retention and morale.
  • Assist HR with upgrading the orientation experience to assure new employees understand the Berea culture and support students on campus.
  • Work with HR, IT, and other departments to identify duplicate applications and systems and reduce inefficiencies and cost, focusing on time‑keeping, training platforms, intake of benefit services, and documents.
  • Provide customer service and training to employees concerning benefits, compensation, and use of HR systems such as the benefits enrollment portal and workforce management and time‑keeping platforms.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities and training program effectiveness.
  • Schedule and coordinate training events (e.g., room reservation, food orders, setup).
  • Work with HR, IT, and vendor partners such as Ellucian to implement efficiency improvements to Banner, NEOED, etc. that support Berea Balance and Students First initiatives.
  • Assist the Manager of HR Systems and Services in assessing training needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, or consultation with managers or customer representatives.
  • Other duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of its goals and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty, and students.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from Berea College with a graduation date in 2024 or spring 2025.
  • History of success in a higher education setting and/or working collaboratively with diverse faculty/staff, alumni, donors, and students.
  • Strong understanding of and appreciation for the Berea College purpose and Great Commitments.
  • Ability to work independently and recognize opportunities to engage prospects with Berea College, increasing support.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated personal traits of initiative, integrity, discretion, patience, persistence, good judgment, and a strong sense of self.
  • Attention to detail, creativity, and problem‑solving skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility to learn and execute varied tasks.
  • Capacity to integrate disparate information and prioritize complex tasks.
Special Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Required background check.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds.
  • Ability to travel independently by car and/or plane.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
Environmental Conditions
  • Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors, students, staff, and faculty.
  • Occasional travel required for meetings, conferences, etc.
Equipment and Vehicles
  • Computer literacy and strong aptitude for tasks such as internet and e‑mail use, navigating Argos, Banner, NEOED, data entry; word processing; experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Standard office equipment (copier, cell phone, office phone system/voice mail).
  • Vehicle – college vans/cars.
