This is a Primary Health Care APRN position that will see patients in the Berea Primary Care Clinic located inside CHI - St. Joseph - Berea. Schedule will consist of 10 hour shifts and will rotate through a two week cycle, allowing for every other weekend off.

BASIC FUNCTIONNurse Practitioner provides primary care services, including assessing and managing patients in the clinic following established standards and practices.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES- Perform physical exams, obtain medical history, and record findings. Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interpret and apply data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
- Conduct one on one patient teaching related to health education and illness prevention. Provide patients/families with information regarding medications and treatments.
- Prescribe or recommend medications, therapeutic procedures, or other forms of treatment.
- Refer patients to specialized health resources for consultation or treatment as needed. Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Administer medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines and complete in-scope, in-office procedures like suturing minor lacerations.
- Discuss cases with Physician and other health professionals, when/as needed to prepare comprehensive patient care plan. Collaborates with care team in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results.
- Participates in safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
- Participate in Quality Assurance activities and chart reviews.
Education:
BSN, MSN preferred. Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program. Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting plus two years of nurse practitioner experience.
Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Kentucky. Certification by national certifying organization.
QualificationsPosition requires the knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and regulations related to the provision of patient care, the use of medical equipment and instrumentation, and common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment. Employee must possess skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care, taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
Candidate must have the ability to maintain quality control standards, ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations, ability to interpret, adapt and apply clinical guidelines and procedures, and the ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
Accountable to the Chief Medical Officer and ultimately the Chief Executive Officer.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDSMay require prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting (generally not in excess of 50 pounds at a time). Requires eye‑hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONSWork is performed in a medical or dental business office environment. Requires frequent contact with staff and the public. A position exempt from wage and hour laws, job may require work weeks in excess of forty hours and/or irregular schedule from time to time. Work may be stressful at times.
