Description

This position works closely with students, Assistant Manager and Store Manager to safely process, prepare and serve all farm store products on a daily basis. Duties include fresh vegetables, meats, ready‑to‑eat deli items, hot soups, hot foods and bakery goods. The farm store prepares many of these foods daily. Cleanup duties include washing dishes, mopping floors and wiping down counters and other surfaces.

Daily customer interactions may also be required as we are a retail operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh ingredients needed for daily offerings using approved equipment and food safety protocols.
• Assist the farm store team with daily cooking, baking responsibilities to offer customers a quality and safe product.
• Assist the farm store team with daily tasks including washing dishes, mopping floors and cleaning equipment.
• Have the ability to lift heavy boxes and or bags of flour, meats and vegetables that arrive on trucks for delivery.
• Have a positive attitude and the ability to assist the customers with questions or concerns.
• Be willing to assist the team with duties that may change daily based on the store and or customer's needs.
• Be able to work and follow all food safety rules that apply to the farm store.

Education required to ensure success in this position

• High School Diploma/Equivalent

Experience required to ensure success in this position

• 1-2 years' experience in a kitchen, bakery and grocery setting involving cooking, baking from scratch daily and presenting items for sale to the general public.

Special skills, knowledge and abilities

• Knowledge and ability to utilize kitchen tools such as knives, food processor, blender, stove, ovens as well as bakery machinery such as mixers and dough sheeters.

License, certification, or registration necessary

• None

Physical requirements

• Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds.
• Able to comfortably lift 25‑50 lbs that may include flour, meats and equipment.
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Environmental conditions

• Able to work in environments that can, at times, be hot such as kitchens, bakery.
• Able to work in cold environments such as the butchery, walk-in freezers and coolers if needed.

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment

• Able to operate dough mixers, food processors, sharp knives, meat grinders if necessary.
