Project Engineer, Operations Manager

Overview

The Technical Department at the Bergen op Zoom site of SABIC Specialties delivers expert knowledge to all facilities with a focus on chemical and compounding plants. The Continuous Improvement Department supports the manufacturing organization in project engineering, execution, and works closely with operations and maintenance to deliver high‑quality projects on schedule and within budget.

• Project coordination across all phases: design, procurement, construction, pre‑commissioning, and closeout.
• Planning and control during development and execution to ensure progress, quality, and safety.
• Leading project execution with focus on safety, quality, cost control, and scheduled performance.
• Applying project controls and providing insights into performance across the project portfolio.
• Stakeholder management through timely identification, alignment, and communication with all involved parties.
• Supporting the Project Management Team with best practices, standards, and lessons learned for optimal execution.
• Team leadership by motivating, guiding, and inspiring multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensuring flawless start‑up through structured preparation and rigorous follow‑up during final project phases.

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Process Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or equivalent.
• Project leadership/management experience, preferably supported by PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Familiarity with CAPEX/Investments.
• Fluency in Dutch and English.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial engineering experience in a demanding, detail‑driven, fast‑track project environment.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal and team‑building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple parallel detail‑driven projects while maintaining quality and focus.
• Influencing skills to guide and align stakeholders without direct hierarchical authority.
• Strong conceptual, communication, and analytical abilities.
