As an Energy & Sustainability Engineer at SABIC, you are responsible for driving the energy transition and the sustainability of our chemical, compounding and technical installations. You will analyze complex industrial processes, identify opportunities to reduce the CO₂ footprint, reduce energy and raw material consumption. You translate sustainability objectives (such as Net Zero and CSRD guidelines) into concrete, achievable engineering projects and guide them from concept to realization.

How You Can Be the Impact

Analyzing existing chemical processes and utilities (steam, cooling, compressed air, electricity) for energy efficiency.

Design and execute modifications for process optimization (e.g. heat integration/pinch analyses, electrification of processes).

Drawing up business cases for sustainable investments (e.g. heat pumps, hydrogen applications, CO₂ capture or renewable energy).

Managing and further developing the Energy Management System (in accordance with ISO 50001).

Monitoring and reporting energy consumption, emissions and sustainability KPIs through data analyses.

Leading or technically supporting multidisciplinary CAPEX projects aimed at sustainability.

Responsible for maintaining and implementing (inter) national legislation regarding the environment, emissions and energy (including ETS, EED, CSRD).

What Matters to Sabic

Higher professional technical education in the direction of (Chemical) Engineering, Applied Physics, Sustainable Energy Technology or similar.

At least 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in the chemical industry.

Strong affinity with thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and chemical process steps.

Experience with energy studies (e.g. Pinch methodology) and ISO 50001.

Strong communication skills to present impactful business cases to different stakeholders from management to operators.
