• A substitute teacher must hold a teaching certificate (Standard, CEAS, or CE) issued by the New Jersey State Board of Examiners/New Jersey Department of Education.
• OR Must be eligible to receive a County Substitute Certificate

• Complete a criminal history background clearance.
• A fee of $125.00 is charged by the County for this certificate and the certificate is issued for a five-year period.

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or appropriate employment authorization.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status
• Must be NJ resident within one year from date of hire
