Controller- Construction

Our client, a 4th-generation family-owned and operated subcontractor construction company, is seeking a hands‑on Controller to lead accounting and financial operations. This is a high‑visibility, onsite role ideal for an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant ready to step into a Controller position.

• Lead full-cycle accounting, month‑end and year‑end close
• Prepare financial statements and management reports
• Manage WIP, job costing, and percentage‑of‑completion accounting
• Oversee cost accounting and project financials
• Handle union accounting, reporting, and payroll coordination
• Assist with lien releases and project documentation
• Complete customer and project pre‑qualification packages
• Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives
• Manage banking relationships, including line of credit reporting and covenant compliance
• Support HR‑related accounting functions (medical insurance, pension programs)
• Serve as the financial lead for the office, supporting ownership and leadership

• Vista Viewpoint (construction ERP)

• 5–10+ years of full‑cycle accounting experience
• Construction industry experience required (GC or subcontractor)
• Strong cost accounting and percentage‑of‑completion knowledge
• Experience with $10M–$20M+ revenue environments
• Hands‑on professional comfortable owning all aspects of accounting
• ERP system experience
• Ability to communicate professionally with banks and AR customers
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (highly preferred)

• Plumbing or HVAC industry background
