Job Description SummaryThe Chemistry department is committed to quality teaching and enjoys a cohesive mutually supportive atmosphere. The students that return after achieving their educational and vocational goals tell us that our preparation is more than sufficient. Many of our transfer students often do better at four‑year colleges than students native to those institutions. The Chemistry Instructor will have the primary responsibility for lecture and laboratory instruction in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry and General Chemistry.
The assignment may also include other courses in the discipline including Introductory General Chemistry and Analytical Instrumentation. Our continuing goal is to always remain student‑centered without sacrificing academic rigor. Maintaining high academic standards is critical to the continued success of our students and is, therefore, important to each and every faculty member.
- Teach a broad range of Chemistry classes, with special emphasis on transfer courses for Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry and Introductory General Chemistry.
- The teaching schedule may include evening or weekend hours as part of contract assignment.
- Instructors are expected to use and keep abreast of advanced teaching methods, including the use of current and future technologies to support student learning and career objectives.
- Provide class instruction in accordance with established course outlines.
- Inform students via syllabi concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
- Maintain necessary attendance, scholastic and personnel records, and submits them according to published deadlines.
- Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations and promptly returns them to students.
- Post and maintain required office hours in accordance with the prevailing policy.
