Optometrist (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Clinical Optometry) – University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry
Position OverviewOpen full‑time faculty position in Clinical Optometry with expected start July 1 2026. Scope includes low vision, vision rehabilitation, geriatric vision, and innovative clinical eye and vision care. The appointee will engage in teaching, clinical service, creative activities, and university and public service.
Responsibilities- Teach professional‑level courses in Doctor of Optometry and graduate (PhD in Vision Science) curricula.
- Active participation in clinical training and teaching programs.
- Research in basic, applied, or clinical sciences.
- Supervision in residency programs.
- Organization of clinic training programs.
- University and public service.
- OD from an accredited institution (or equivalent international degree).
- Evidence of advanced training post‑OD (PhD, MPH, MSc or equivalent) or equivalent experience in scholarship and/or research.
- Active optometry license (maintain active licensure throughout term).
- Compliance with all UC Berkeley Optometry Clinic annual immunization and medical screening requirements, trainings, and University and School policies.
- Three or more years of training and/or experience post‑OD.
- Record of active participation and excellence in clinical teaching.
- Evidence of high level of competence in a clinical specialty and/or evidence of high level of competence in clinical research (peer reviewed publications).
- Licensure in California preferred (not required to practice within School’s clinics).

- Research or creative interests and selected publications, if applicable – discuss research/creative accomplishments and proposed plans.

Salary RangeUSD $93,700–$319,200 (12‑month fiscal year salary). Off‑scale compensation may be offered to meet competitive conditions.
