equivalency procedure

applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the job announcement but believe they possess the equivalent must submit an equivalency application form including full supporting documentation and mail to the human resources department (this is separate from the online application). All non-u.s. Transcripts must be evaluated by an evaluation and translation service in order to be reviewed for equivalency.

note: denial by the equivalency committee is final and cannot be reopened for this announced position. If an applicant applies for an additional position in the same discipline that is subsequently announced, the applicant may submit an equivalency application form by the Final date to receive applications date, requesting a new equivalency determination only if additional evidence is submitted for consideration.

conditions of employment

employees must satisfy all pre-employment requirements to work for the district, including:

  • tb examination: evidence of being free of tuberculosis within the past 60 days.
  • fingerprinting: required to be fingerprinted within the first 10 working days of employment.
  • immigration verification: must be eligible to work in the united states as required by law.
  • social security card: a card will be required following selection and prior to completion of the hiring process.

faculty union: this position is represented by the peralta federation of teachers (pft).

may be required: medical examination may be required prior to employment with expenses borne by the employee.
