Job Purpose And Summary

At CVS Health, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. They assist the pharmacy team in ensuring that pharmacy operations run smoothly, that prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and that patients receive caring service that exceeds expectations. Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication, demonstrating genuine care and contributing to a safe and inclusive culture.

Responsibilities
  • Follow company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, creating heartfelt and personalized moments, offering immunizations and other services, and solving or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities such as accurately putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team by embracing a growth mindset, seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge, and being receptive to feedback.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to stores within the market to work shifts as needed.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, voluntarily staffing offsite clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
Immunization Responsibilities (where permissible)
  • Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status and prepare/administer vaccines.
  • Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer to the Pharmacy‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report adverse event per public health requirements.
  • Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Compliance with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
Essential Functions
  • Regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
  • Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
  • Customer service and team orientation: help people in a friendly manner, respond appropriately to patient reactions.
  • Communication skills: use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues; employ active listening and appropriate questioning.
  • Mathematical reasoning: solve problems such as determining tablets or medication counts.
  • Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
  • Physical demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, manual dexterity, vision requirements, lifting up to 20 lbs, speaking and listening.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations.
Anticipated Weekly Hours

20 hours.

Part‑time.

Pay Range

Base hourly rate: $20.83 – $20.83.
