Professional Tree Care Co. has over 45 years of experience in the tree care industry. The company seeks a self‑motivated payroll professional to process payroll using ADP and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws.

About the Job

The Payroll Coordinator reports to the Human Resources & Payroll Manager and works as part of a two‑person payroll team. Primary duties include ensuring timely and accurate payroll, training staff on ADP time‑keeping software, visiting field locations, and supporting HR functions.

Essential Functions
  • Process payroll for up to 99 Bay Area employees on a weekly, bi‑monthly, and certified payroll schedule.
  • Perform HR tasks such as onboarding, background checks, and benefit administration.
  • Train staff in the use of the ADP application on smartphones across multiple locations.
  • Drive to field and remote sites for onboarding, off‑boarding, or assistance.
  • Accurately process hourly payroll, including overtime, commissions, bonuses, taxes, 401(k) contributions, and health insurance premiums.
  • Create reports outlining deductions, overtime, tax liabilities, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll tax filings.
  • Collaborate with HR on benefits, PTO deductions, promotions, separations, and attendance data.
  • Act as backup to the HR/Payroll Manager when necessary.
  • Work full‑time on‑site on the second floor of a building without an elevator; remote work is not available.

  • Experience with HR fundamentals: onboarding, digital HR files, DMV records, and background checks.
  • College degree in English, finance, economics, or business.
  • Ability to focus in a shared, often chatter‑filled open environment.
Compensation and Benefits

This full‑time, permanent position offers an hourly rate of $26.00–$30.00 based on experience.
