Departmental Overview:
One of the nation s leading university museums, the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) is a forum for cultural experiences that transform individuals and advance discourse on art and film. BAMPFA presents more than 300 film screenings, dozens of public programs, and more than fifteen exhibitions annually.
Position Summary:
This is a part-time (60%) on-call role to address urgent website or database issues. The Website Systems Developer & Manager will maintain BAMPFA s Drupal 7 site (to be decommissioned in early 2027) and will lead the website redevelopment project and Postgre
SQL database build. Working with a Technical Project Manager and external agency, the role ensures functionality, performance, accessibility, and data integration across platforms during development. After deployment, the role will manage ongoing technical aspects of the bampfa.org site and Postgre
SQL database, including maintenance, security, updates, and system integrations with Tessitura (TNEW), Collection Space, Resource Space, and data migrations from legacy systems like File Maker. The position also acts as a technical liaison between BAMPFA departments, campus IT, and external vendors to ensure continuity and compliance across hosting environments and CI/CD pipelines.

- Website Development (Now–early 2027):
Serve as BAMPFA s in-house technical lead for the redevelopment project, coordinating with the Technical Project Manager, external agency, Data Architect, UX consultant, and stakeholders to transition from Drupal 7 to Word Press. - Develop and implement custom Word Press themes, templates, and plugins to meet functional and design requirements.
- Support the Postgre
SQL-based CMS structure and data relationships, ensuring efficiency and stability. - Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance to identify and resolve bugs or performance issues.
- Drupal 7 Website Management (Now–early 2027):
Maintain and support the existing Drupal 7 site through decommissioning, applying security patches, troubleshooting, and ensuring stable operation until the new site launches. - Monitor website performance, uptime, and security; address vulnerabilities or downtime promptly.
- Ensure disaster recovery and version control procedures are in place for the public site.
- Troubleshoot and resolve front-end and back-end issues, coordinating with IT and external partners as needed.
- Word Press Website Management (Early 2027 and beyond):
Manage and maintain the new Word Press site post-launch; keep plugins, themes, and core systems updated and compatible. - Implement enhancements and new features post-launch based on institutional needs, analytics, and user feedback; assist in researching and developing custom features.
- Support integrations between Word Press and external platforms (Tessitura via TNEW, Collection Space, Resource Space); ensure a seamless user experience.
- Write and maintain SQL queries and API endpoints for content integration and data validation.
- Establish and maintain proper version control across all systems.
