Position Summary The Development Associate supports fundraising and donor relations at the Helen Diller Institute for Jewish Law and Israel Studies. The role includes donor database management, report creation, event coordination, donor pipeline research, annual fund management, and donor communications, including advisory board relations.

Responsibilities Donor Pipeline Creation, Identification, and Qualification- Conduct donor research to identify new prospects and funding opportunities.
- Assist in creation and maintenance of a donor pipeline, tracking potential donors through cultivation stages.
- Qualify prospects by evaluating giving capacity, philanthropic interests, and engagement potential.
- Support strategies to deepen donor relationships.
- Maintain and update donor records in the Institute's CRM/database.
- Generate detailed reports to track fundraising performance, donor retention, and gift trends.
- Analyze donor data to identify cultivation opportunities.
- Create and distribute regular reports for the Deputy Director.
- Assist Deputy Director in preparing supplementary materials for advisory board and stakeholders.
- Assist in drafting and distributing donor‑related communications (acknowledgment letters, stewardship reports, impact updates).
- Assist with communication to advisory board (updates, meeting materials, follow‑ups).
- Collect donor, student, and faculty testimonials for collateral materials.
- Collaborate with communications team to develop newsletters, social media, and website content.
- Support execution and growth of annual fund strategy.
- Collaborate with Deputy Director to develop innovative approaches to increase participation and revenue.
- Assist in donor appeals with targeted, personalized messaging.
- Monitor and analyze annual fund performance.
- Coordinate initiatives to strengthen donor retention and acquisition.
- Ensure timely, accurate gift acknowledgment with personalized thank‑you letters.
- Implement stewardship strategies, including recognition, appreciation touch‑points, and outreach.
- Track stewardship activities for meaningful engagement.
- Support planning and execution of fundraising and donor cultivation events.
- Manage event logistics (guest lists, RSVPs, vendor coordination, on‑site execution).
- Assist with event‑related materials (invitations, programmatic materials, promotional materials).
- Coordinate post‑event follow‑up (thank‑you notes).
- Assist stewardship and reporting to foundation funders.
- Support proposal development for foundation funders.
- Collaborate with Deputy Director and Executive Director on relationships, deadlines, and progress reports.
- Engage in professional development and training opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Professional knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and fundraising communications.
- Familiarity with or ability to learn UC Berkeley Law and the Helen Diller Institute (HDI).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Good organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills; proficiency with donor management software (CRM) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to learn new computer programs and systems.
- Strong data analysis and report creation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and apply strong project/time management skills.
