Postdoc Employee Transposons Research Molecular and Cell Biology

Salary: UC academic salary scales determine minimum pay determined by rank and step rent scale: $66,737 – $74,425 (estimated).
Percent time: 100% FTE
Anticipated start: Fall 2025 to Spring 2026
Position duration: Two year with possibility of extension.

The He Lab (Molecular and Cell Biology) at UC–Berkeley studies functional non‑coding elements, including transposons, using genetics, genomics, cell and molecular biology, genome engineering and live cell imaging. Two projects are available: (1) Transposons in mammalian pre‑implantation development; (2) Transposons in aging and disease.
Postdoc Responsibilities- Develop a project in one of the two research directions, design experiments, learn technologies, execute experiments and analyze data.
- Meet weekly with the PI to discuss results and develop experimental plans.
- Mentor junior lab members on experimental techniques.
- Contribute to lab duties, evenly distributed among lab members.
Basic qualifications (required at time of application): PhD (or equivalent international degree) or enrollment in a PhD program.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start): PhD required by start date; no more than three years of post‑degree research experience.
Preferred qualifications: PhD in developmental biology, genetics, genomics, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related field; prior research experience in mammalian development and disease preferred.
