Position title: Postdoc Employee
Salary range: $71,737 – $79,425 per year, with potential above‑minimum salary based on experience and competitive conditions.

Anticipated start: Spring 2026
Position duration: 24 months, with potential extension based on performance and funding availability.

Position descriptionThe MOILAB at UC Berkeley seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to leverage the lab’s genomic infrastructure to study the evolution of genomes. The role involves leading publications, disseminating research at conferences, mentoring graduate students, and contributing to a collaborative, diverse research environment.
Responsibilities- Lead the publication of academic papers on experimental evolution of plants under the PI’s supervision, including genome sequencing, plant growth, trait measurement, gene expression, and gene editing constructs.
- Analyze experiments using population‑genetic and biostatistical methods (linear regression, mixed models).
- Generate figures using R and Python.
- Present research results at national and international conferences.
- Mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students while conducting analyses and experiments.
- Meet weekly with the PI to evaluate progress and provide feedback to students.
- PhD (or equivalent) or enrollment in a PhD program.
- PhD (or equivalent) completed by start date.
- No more than three years of post‑degree research experience by start date.
- Experience in evolution, genomics, bioinformatics, population genetics, quantitative or comparative genomics, molecular genetics, or related fields.
- Track record of research productivity, independence, and collaboration.
- Willingness to work closely with lab members and collaborators.
- Contribution to lab‑wide chores fostering a productive and positive environment.
- Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
- Leadership of research projects, preparation of publications, and presentation at scientific meetings.
