Postdoctoral Scholar – Experimental Evolution/Eco‑Evolutionary Genomics
Join the MOILAB at the University of California, Berkeley to lead publishing on experimental evolution of plants, leveraging large‑scale Evolve & Resequence data, global population genomics, common gardens, and CRISPR genome editing. The role requires a deep background in genomics, evolutionary biology, and bioinformatics.
Position OverviewPosition title: Postdoctoral Scholar
Salary range: Minimum $71,737 – $79,425 (UC salary scales).
Percent time: 100%
Anticipated start: Spring 2026
Duration: 24 months, potential extension

Responsibilities- Lead publication of papers on experimental evolution of plants; conduct genome sequencing, plant growth, phenotype & gene‑expression assays, and construct generation for gene editing.
- Analyze experiments via population genetic statistics and biostatistical methods (linear regression, mixed models).
- Generate figures utilizing R and Python.
- Present findings at national and international conferences.
- Mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students, providing feedback on progress.
- Meet weekly with the PI to evaluate progress.
Basic qualification required: PhD (or equivalent) in genetics, genomics, evolutionary biology, or related field, or currently enrolled in PhD program.
Additional qualifications (required at start):
- PhD by start date.
- No more than three years of post‑degree research experience.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in evolution, genomics, bioinformatics, population genetics, quantitative genomics, comparative genomics, molecular genetics, genome evolution.
- Track record of research productivity, independence, and collaboration.
- Enthusiasm for collaborative work, mentoring, and lab‑wide participation.
