Cashier (4672C) – Berkeley Dining, UC Berkeley
The University of California, Berkeley is seeking a dedicated Cashier to operate point‑of‑sale systems and provide high‑level customer service to dining customers and co‑workers.
Position SummaryOperate the electronic point‑of‑sale system, count change, process on‑line card transactions, and maintain financial accountability. Provide excellent customer service, maintain operational cleanliness, and ensure safety and security at the dining facility.

Responsibilities- Cashiering Control: Follow university cash handling policies, properly handle daily money bags, reconcile sales, secure receipts, and refer problems to the manager.
- Customer Service: Greet customers, resolve needs, assist disabled students, answer general questions, manage comment cards, and keep all work areas clean and organized.
- Security and Safety: Ensure valid payment options, control unauthorized entrances, monitor and deter unauthorized removal of food products, and direct evacuation during emergencies.
- Meal Preparation: Set up, prepare, replenish, restock, price, and distribute beverages and food to meet customer demand while maintaining cleanliness and following safety principles.
- Professional development and other duties as assigned.
- Cash handling experience in a retail operation.
- Public contact skills and experience.
- Basic English reading, writing, speaking, and math skills.
- Ability to follow oral/written instructions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Bank teller experience.
- Previous food service experience in a retail operation.
- Serv Safe or Food Service Handler Certification.
Hourly rate: $21.92 (Step
