Volunteer Swim Partner – Disabled Children
SNAPkids | Special Needs Aquatic Program invites volunteers to help children with disabilities swim.
As a volunteer, you will partner with a child and another volunteer to create engaging aquatic activities that meet their unique needs.
Responsibilities- Assist a child with disabilities in the pool, ensuring safety and inclusion.
- Participate in weekly swim sessions (Friday or Sunday).
- Follow training and guidance provided by program staff.
- Build a positive relationship with the swimmer and help them feel comfortable.
- Minimum age 16 (young adults to retirees welcome).
- Strong swimmer able to stay in water for at least an hour.
- Playful, patient, and supportive nature.
- Ability to commit at least 1 hour per week for a semester (more hours welcome).
- Fridays (Berkeley, 2001 Allston Way) and Sundays (Berkeley and Albany, 1311 Portland Ave).
Training and ongoing support are provided. Leadership opportunities are available for committed volunteers.
