Experienced Avionics Hardware Engineer – Fighters Mission Systems
The Boeing Company’s BDS division is a leader in aerospace, defense, and space technology.
Position Responsibilities- Overall subject matter expert and technical lead for Mission and Safety Computers hardware
- Lead the hardware supplier design team supporting Tactical Fighters program needs
- Develop interface control documents for mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces
- Investigate and resolve technical problems at subsystem, system, and platform integration levels
- Develop and integrate weapon capabilities onto fighter platforms
- Present status updates to Boeing stakeholders, leadership, and external customers
- Support subsystem testing on Mission Systems Hardware
- Support system testing in ESIL and Flight Test environments
- Lead Safety Critical Functional Thread Analysis efforts for Mission Systems Hardware
- Support airworthiness efforts for hardware design, development, and implementation
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical) or equivalent
- 9+ years with a Bachelor’s degree (or 7+ with a Master’s, 3+ with a PhD)
- Knowledge of military standards: MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑704, MIL‑STD‑461, etc.
- Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and functional diagrams
- Tactical Fighters platform knowledge, including subsystem and platform integration
- Leadership experience mentoring, coaching, and leading technical teams
- Knowledge of core processing, image/display/video processing, built‑in test requirements, and safety computing
- Familiarity with circuit card assembly design, fabrication, and verification
- Understanding of avionics box interfaces (MIL‑STD‑1553, serial buses, fiber/ethernet)
- Experience with avionics quality inspection and acceptance processes
- Knowledge of software requirements, environments, and operational flight program development
- Experience working closely with U.S. Government and aircrew
- Proficiency with tools such as DOORS, MSOSA/Cameo, Teamcenter, and MS Office
- Location:
on‑site at Boeing’s facility (multiple options) - Shift: 1st Shift
- Full‑time
Summary pay range: $129,200 – $174,800
