Position Overview

Located in Berkeley, Missouri, this role is 100% onsite with a focus on Fighters programs including F/A-18, EA-18G, F-15, and F-22 aircraft upgrades. The Senior Engineer will lead the development and execution of new Mission Computing solutions, guiding the design from architecture through lab, flight, and maintenance phases.

Responsibilities

• Leads activities to develop, document and maintain avionics architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for system level architecture, system‑specific issues, and processes.
• Leads the engineering team in implementation of Open Mission Systems (OMS) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes.
• Collaborates with specialty engineering teams to decompose requirements to the Mission Computer, ensuring performance, safety‑critical, and environmental requirements are understood and implemented.
• Coordinates hardware‑software integration efforts with internal and external stakeholders in a fast‑paced Agile environment.
• Develops and documents complex electronic and electrical system requirements with customers and aircrew.
• Analyzes customer requests, considers contractual and technical impacts, and translates into actionable system requirements.
• Provides technical leadership for investigation of emerging technologies, technical planning, integration of new technology implementation, and technology demonstrations.
• Resolves product integration issues and production anomalies.
• Solves problems concerning fielded hardware and software throughout the product lifecycle.
• Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with defined requirements.
• Supports subsystem and system‑level compliance evaluations against the configuration item’s requirement set.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science from an accredited program.
• Experience in Open Mission Systems (OMS) development.
• Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) development.
• Experience with system design and development, including component interactions, interfaces, and overall system functionality.
• Experience with requirements development and management, including technical performance specification and statement of work development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI) message standard and Common Abstraction Layer (CAL).
• Experience with hardware design and development across all cycles from initial design to flight maturity.
• Experience with hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) simulations and testing methodologies.
• Experience designing secure architectures, implementing cryptographic protocols, secure boot, firmware validation, and secure communications.
• Experience with Open Architecture Standards (e.g., SOSA, VPX).
• Experience with high‑speed fiber connections (>10 GB/s).
• Experience with safety and airworthiness certifications such as DO‑178C (DAL), MIL‑STD‑882E (LOR), or AC‑17‑01 (CSIL).
• Experience with ARINC‑818 standard for display interfaces.
• Experience with Multi‑level Security Networks and Embedded Systems.
• Experience with cryptographic units, Cross Domain Solutions/Guards including access CDS and transfer CDS.

Education / Experience Levels

Level 3: Typically equipped with a Bachelor’s degree and 5 + years of related experience or an equivalent combination (e.g., Master’s and 3 years).
Level 4: Typically a Bachelor’s degree and 9 + years of related experience or an equivalent combination (e.g., Master’s). ABET accreditation is preferred but not required.

Security Clearance

Requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required. A clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active.

Signing Bonus & Compensation

Potential signing bonus for eligible/qualified external candidates.

Level 3: $96,050 – $129,950

Level 4: $119,850 – $162,150
