POSITION SUMMARY:

As a pharmacy manager at North Country Healthcare (NCH), you are a member of the healthcare team and are integral in providing quality affordable healthcare to the patients of NCH. Our pharmacy managers are responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the Pharmacy Department in the areas of staff supervision, maintenance of clinical programs, effective intra‑ and inter‑departmental communication, workload assignment and proper allocation of Pharmacy resources to best serve the patient and NCH’s mission to provide affordable access to quality healthcare in the counties we serve.

The pharmacy manager assures the timely and accurate preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products and completion of the department’s clinical functions, participates in the quality improvement process, and ensures that patient therapy is consistent with current medical practice, New Hampshire Law, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) regulations, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and drug manufacturer’s recommendations, current literature and/or other information sources.

ACCOUNTABILITIES : OPERATIONS
  • Oversees the clinical activities of the department to ensure that quality services are provided in accordance with good clinical pharmacy practice guidelines, recommending agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure the highest quality and consistent clinical care.
  • Ensures that the department activities meet state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Promotes and maximizes the involvement of staff pharmacists in the provision of clinical pharmacy services including patient drug therapy monitoring, medication history / reconciliation, drug information to medical and nursing staff, and participation in in‑service training and patient education programs.
  • Performs duties of a Clinical Pharmacist as required.
  • Encourages and promotes all staff to practice at the top of their scope of practice in alignment with the departmental goals and objectives.
  • Participates in achieving the goals for the hospital and the pharmacy department through collaboration with the other members of the pharmacy administrative team and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Provides accurate and comprehensive drug information to other healthcare professionals, Pharmacy staff and patients.
STRATEGY/PLANNING
  • Leads departmental goal setting process and provides roadmap for accomplishing goals. Monitors progress, developing action plans to address issues and challenges.
  • Communicates affiliate, department and system goals to staff, helping staff understand impact on operations and resources.
  • Develops plan of action to address current and future resource needs to meet service and/or operational demands and objectives.
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities, and initiates action plan to meet short/long term operational objectives or service level agreements.
  • With the System Director of Pharmacy, develops metrics and methods for measuring outcomes against relevant internal and external benchmarks; assists in the identification of criteria and effective qualitative/quantitative measurement tools.
