Compensation: $62,712.00–$78,395.20 annually
Eligibility:
Commencement bonus up to $7,500, student‑loan repayment, relocation assistance (if necessary)
The role of a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) on an on‑call basis focuses on delivering high‑quality respiratory care during 7‑day work periods. The therapist must act independently, respond swiftly to patient needs, and maintain comprehensive patient documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to on‑call alerts and provide respiratory therapy services as required.
- Administer and monitor oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, ventilator support, and other respiratory modalities.
- Evaluate patient conditions and recommend appropriate respiratory interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory policies at all times.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care).
- Active NH state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
- BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS and/or NRP preferred.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical respiratory experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while on‑call.
- Reliable transportation and ability to respond within 30 minutes when on‑call.
- Completion and maintenance of assigned clinical competencies per Respiratory Therapy Department policy.
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe, effective, and age‑appropriate care.
- Competence in ventilator management, airway clearance techniques, and emergency response procedures (including code blue).
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting a wide range of respiratory equipment.
- Competency checks upon hire and at regular intervals, including:
- ABG sampling and analysis
- Non‑invasive and invasive ventilation
- CPAP/BiPAP setup and management
- Oxygen therapy systems
- Emergency airway management support
- Infection control procedures
- Participation in continuing education and department training sessions to maintain clinical readiness.
- On‑call only, 7 consecutive days.
- Off the following 7 days, providing a week of uninterrupted personal time.
- Must be available to respond to calls promptly during the on‑call week.
All new hires will attend a mandatory three‑day orientation at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, NH. Attendance on all three days is required for onboarding completion. If Weeks Medical Center is not your designated home base, you will be eligible for travel reimbursement in accordance with our standard travel policy.
