Open (100%) position for Social Anthropology. The successful candidate will represent the discipline with a special focus on the anthropology of migration, complement and broaden the existing research areas within the department and contribute to teaching on the Bachelor’s degree in Social Anthropology and the Master’s degrees in MASA (Master in Social Anthropology), ATS (Anthropology of Transnationalism and the State) and CREOLE (Cultural Differences and Transnational Processes).
The languages of instruction are German and English.
- Represent the discipline of social anthropology with a special focus on the anthropology of migration.
- Contribute to teaching on the Bachelor’s degree in Social Anthropology and the Master’s degrees in MASA, ATS, and CREOLE.
- Participate in the coordination of departmental activities as co‑director of the Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies.
- Supervise junior scholars in their research area.
- Actively seek external funding to support their research.
- Open rank (tenure‑track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professorship). Appointment level decided by the committee on the basis of prior experience and qualifications.
- For extraordinary or full professorships, a Habilitation or proof of equivalent academic achievement is required.
- For an assistant professorship, candidates should have an advanced habilitation project or equivalent experience.
- German‑language skills or commitment to acquire them within two years of appointment.
