Who you are
Depending on qualifications, the successful candidate will be appointed at the level of assistant professorship with tenure track, associate professorship, or full professorship. To be considered for a full or associate professorship, candidates must have a habilitation or else demonstrate equivalent achievement. The requirements for appointment to an assistant professorship with tenure track are an above-average doctoral thesis and an advanced habilitation project or equivalent achievement.
Appointment to an assistant professorship with tenure track is initially for four years and can be extended for a further two years. Subject to a successful evaluation, the position may then be converted into an associate professorship and made permanent.
The University of Bern is committed to equal opportunities and the promotion of diversity in employment. In particular, it strives to increase the number of women in senior academic positions and welcomes applications from people with disabilities, People of Color, and people who, in the Swiss context, are from ethnic minority backgrounds.
