Introduction

Unilabs is the largest provider of medical laboratory diagnostics for prescribers and hospitals in Switzerland and employs around 800 people.

Your Tasks

As Digital Quality Control Manager Pathology, you will play a central role in shaping and safeguarding the digital transformation of our pathology services across all Swiss sites.

You will ensure that digital workflows, scanning quality, accreditation standards, training levels and AI‑supported diagnostic processes meet the highest operational and regulatory requirements.

This is a key role at the intersection of laboratory practice, digital technology, quality management, and innovation.

Digital Workflow & Quality Leadership
  • Harmonize digitalization procedures and global digital workflows across all pathology sites, working in close collaboration with the Head Technicians and Pathologists.
  • Lead and oversee quality and accreditation activities related to digital pathology and AI applications in cooperation with the Quality Management team.
  • Monitor turnaround times (TAT) and ensure the smooth day‑to‑day management of QC tasks.
  • Train technical and medical staff on digital infrastructure and software.
Systems, Tools & Vendor Management
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with all scanner providers, IMS/LIS software vendors, and AI solution partners.
  • Manage and resolve case synchronization issues between IMS and LIS—especially in situations where user permissions differ (e.g., limited access to case details for pathologists).
  • Oversee the performance of digital scanners, including monitoring blurred slide rates, scanning time, QC pass rate per scan, and the number of bugs or technical breakdowns.
AI Monitoring & Innovation Tracking
  • Conduct post‑implementation monitoring of AI tools, including:
  • Algorithm performance
  • Adverse events
  • TAT impact
  • Pathologist experience and feedback
  • Identification of improvement opportunities
  • Stay up to date with digital pathology and AI innovations, recommend and evaluate new solutions for potential pilots.
User Support, Site Coordination & Continuous Improvement
  • Collect user feedback from all sites and convert insights into improvement actions.
  • Coordinate with on‑site technical scanning staff to ensure high‑quality routine operations.
  • Oversee periodic system evaluations (scanner checks, screen calibration, digital validation) and validate new users entering the digital workflow.
Regulatory & Compliance Monitoring
  • Track evolving legal and regulatory requirements related to digital pathology, LDTs, and AI technologies (e.g., reimbursement frameworks, IVDR developments).
  • Ensure compliance and prepare the organization for future regulatory changes affecting digital workflows.
Your Profile Must‑have
  • Strong background in digital pathology ideally within a pathology laboratory setting.
  • An understanding of quality management, accreditation standards, and the unique requirements of digital systems in pathology.
  • Experience working with IMS, LIS, slide scanners, or AI tools is a significant advantage.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to monitor performance data and drive continuous improvement.
  • Languages required:
English, plus either French or German (ideally both)
Additionally, you bring
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration across technical staff, pathologists, vendors, and IT.
  • Strong organizational capabilities and ability to manage multiple sites and stakeholders.
  • High motivation to contribute to the modernization of pathology and the integration of AI‑enhanced diagnostics.
We Offer
  • An exciting and dynamic work environment with a lot of internationality
  • Taking responsibility and unfolding your potential
  • A positive working atmosphere with a partnership and appreciative corporate culture
  • Attractive fringe benefits as well as a 40-hour week and 5-weeks vacation
  • Annual fee for your personal analyses and special prices for radiological advice from the Unilabs Group
