Azure Cloud Engineer

Responsibilities

• Operating and continuously developing our Azure platform – including Azure Landing Zone, subscriptions, networks, private endpoints, DNS, Key Vaults and central platform services.
• Implementing governance and security requirements on a technical level, in particular in the areas of Microsoft Entra , IAM, RBAC, PIM, Conditional Access, Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, encryption and Zero Trust.
• Monitoring, logging and alerting; maintaining operations documentation and operational standards.
• Supporting incidents, changes, migrations and disruptions in the Azure environment and ensuring root‑cause analysis, technical remediation and sustainable improvements.
• Developing automations and infrastructure as code using tools such as ARM, Bicep, Terraform, Power Shell, Azure CLI and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working closely with architecture, security, operations, application teams and external partners and providing support on topics such as resilience, backup, recovery, compliance and cost optimisation.

• Degree in computer science, business informatics or a comparable qualification (Bachelor’s or Master’s) and several years of practical experience in operating and securing cloud platforms on Microsoft Azure. Additional training or certifications in Azure administration, Azure security or cloud operations (e.g., Azure Administrator or Azure Security Engineer) are an advantage.
• Sound understanding of secure, stable and standardised platform operating models on Azure and in-depth knowledge in the areas of cloud operations, Azure security, identity & access management, networking, monitoring and technical operations.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, automation in the Azure environment and the use of Azure Dev Ops, Git and modern CI/CD pipelines, able to identify and assess technical risks and derive pragmatic measures to improve security, stability and operability.
• Independent, structured and reliable work style, capable of documenting technical interrelationships in a comprehensible way and explaining them clearly to different stakeholder groups.
• Analytical, networked thinking, responsible and solution-oriented approach, strong awareness of data protection and information security. Communicates confidently in German (C1) and has good English skills in a technical context.
