Position Overview
Scientific Collaborator for Science Integration (80‑100% fixed‑term until 30 April 2030). The role supports interdisciplinary work across NCCR CLIM+ work packages and the newly established CERESS Center.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate boundary work: identify boundary concepts (e.g., "extreme events", "risks", "resilience") and produce a joint glossary.
- Develop a joint conceptual framework ("boundary object") addressing societal transformations toward resilience in climate extremes.
- Establish boundary settings: organize integrative formats such as meetings, training schools, workshops, retreats, and the NCCR CLIM+ Young Scholars Forum.
- Coordinate science integration within the consortium and support interdisciplinary community building.
- Engage with all PIs, Postdocs, and PhDs across the consortia.
- Participate in site visits, work package meetings, and workshops.
- PhD in social sciences, human geography, interdisciplinary environmental sciences, science and technology studies, sustainability transformations, or a related field.
- Strong interest in climate extremes, mitigation, and adaptation.
- Experience working in large interdisciplinary consortia and developing/applied interdisciplinary concepts, methods, tools.
- Panoptic perspectives and close interaction with diverse stakeholders.
- High integrative skills, social and emotional intelligence.
- Fluent in English and at least one Swiss national language.
- Knowledge of the Swiss academic landscape is advantageous.
Primary workplace:
Management Center of NCCR CLIM+ at the University of Bern. Secondary workplace:
Eawag, Dübendorf, as part of the Inter‑and Transdisciplinary Research Group.
Working time: 80‑100% full time, fixed‑term until 30 April 2030, with potential extension of two 4‑year periods (SBFI NCCR contract).
