Software Test Engineer – Network & Communication Systems (m/f/d)
About the Role
Our client is a leading technology company developing highly secure communication and network solutions for mission-critical environments. To strengthen their engineering team, we are looking for an experienced Software Test Engineer with a passion for quality assurance, automation, and modern network technologies.
In this role, you will work closely with development and engineering teams to ensure the reliability, stability, and performance of complex software and communication systems.
Your Responsibilities- Design, create and maintain realistic test data that reflects real-world customer scenarios.
- Execute manual and automated software tests in a structured and systematic manner.
- Analyze, document and evaluate test results to ensure the highest quality standards.
- Identify, reproduce and document software defects, including detailed root cause analysis and impact assessment.
- Maintain comprehensive test documentation, reports and test data for full traceability and transparency.
- Develop and maintain automated test cases using Python.
- Support continuous improvement of testing processes, automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with software developers, system engineers and customers during validation and acceptance testing.
- Participate in on-site customer testing when required.
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or a comparable technical discipline.
- Several years of professional experience in software testing and quality assurance.
- Strong experience with automated testing using Python
. - Programming knowledge in C# and/or C++ is considered an advantage.
- Excellent understanding of networking technologies including:
- Switching & Routing
- IPv4 / IPv6
- Overlay / Underlay Networks
- Solid Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD environments and Dev Ops tools such as:
- Git
- Git Lab
- Jenkins
- Ansible
- Hypervisor & Virtualization technologies
- Experience building and maintaining automated testing pipelines.
- Familiarity with modern software development and testing methodologies.
Ideally, you hold one or more of the following certifications:
- ISTQB Certified Tester
- ITIL Foundation
- Hermes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A structured and independent working style.
- Passion for software quality and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- High willingness to learn new technologies.
- Fluent German and good English language skills.
- Willingness to travel regionally (approximately 60%).
