U.S. Pipe is seeking a Plant Buyer to support our plant in Bessemer, Alabama. The role involves purchasing materials, supplies, and services in accordance with company procedures and supporting plant operations.

• Examine purchase requests and determine cost‑effective methods.
• Identify and select vendors, negotiating best price and ensuring quantity, quality, and delivery requirements.
• Create and issue purchase orders.
• Track open purchase orders, coordinate delivery, and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain a vetted vendor list and inventory management process for raw materials.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable, generate reporting, and support cost‑saving initiatives.
• Return and repair materials, evaluate repair vs replace.
• Communicate purchasing procedures and provide assistance to plant personnel.
• Serve as backup for stores and purchasing personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent; 3–5 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of general production manufacturing and inventory management practices.
• Familiarity with materials used in ductile iron pipe manufacturing.
• Experience with ERP systems and inventory management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Organized, detail‑oriented, safety‑conscious, self‑motivated team player.

• Work in an office setting with occasional plant travel; may be exposed to foundry operations.
• Possible conditions: extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, dust, fumes, metallic particles.
• Tasks: standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, speaking, seeing, hearing, sitting.
