We are looking for a Ductile Iron Production Lathe Operator to join our team in Bessemer/McCalla, AL! This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing operation, have a direct impact on product quality, and advance your career. Depending on the individual, this position could lead to advancement.
Key Responsibilities- Follow OSHA and Company safety requirements
- Measuring, cutting, threading, and flange assembly on ductile iron pipe
- Lathe machining of ductile iron pipe, flanges, accessories, and parts
- Testing pipe assemblies for leaks
- Troubleshooting issues with fabrications and equipment
- A minimum of 3 years of lathe experience threading and fabricating ductile iron pipe preferred
- A strong work ethic, a strong desire to learn, and commitment to the team and Company
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of pipe systems
- Knowledge of machinery and testing procedures; experience with welding is not required, but is a plus
- Ability to read and understand safety procedures, technical drawings, interpret drawings, schematics, production orders, standards, procedures, and ensure each order and project are completed correctly
- Knowledge and use of measuring devices, materials, and tools used in pipe fabrication
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Must be able to pass a drug screening
- The ideal candidate should be self‑motivated and a team leader. Must be able to carry out and comply with Company policies and safety procedures.
- Attention to detail and a strong desire to serve the customer by producing quality products that meet all specified requirements, including on‑time delivery.
