Walgreens offers an “earn while you learn” Pharmacy Technician Training Program that guides you toward becoming a certified pharmacy technician and maintains the high skill level required in the industry.

Whether new to pharmacies or experienced, you will receive comprehensive training and on‑the‑job experience to prepare for PTCB certification

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, following state and federal regulations.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; coach other technicians if PTCB certified.
• Model a distinctive and delightful customer experience, greeting patients and resolving issues.
• Enter patient and drug information accurately, fill prescriptions, verify medication correctness, and check for interactions.
• Record all sales on the assigned cash register and manage cash transactions.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s attention, including physician calls.
• Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services efficiently.
• Assist in inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, storing pharmaceuticals; file claims for overages or shortages.
• Support clinical services: collect and label blood/urine samples, assist with pharmacy clinic coordination.
• Maintain a clean, organized pharmacy department and comply with all company policies.
• Develop relationships with local medical providers and assist in outreach.
• Comply with the Walgreens “Good Faith Dispensing” policy.
• Complete special assignments as directed by the Pharmacy Manager.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.
• Attend training sessions and acquire continuing education credits to stay current in healthcare and pharmacy.

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
