Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Interim Physical Therapy Manager with an active Alaska PT license and strong leadership skills for a hospital-based therapy clinic.
Responsibilities- Manage a hospital-based inpatient and outpatient physical therapy clinic in a remote Alaska location
- Work with both rehabilitation and orthopedic specialty patient populations
- Use a variety of therapeutic exercise equipment, hi-lo tables, ultrasound, and electric stimulation modalities
- Day shift schedule for a 13-week contract assignment
- Participate in both clinical care and administrative oversight
- Coordinate orthopedic specialty field clinics and may require travel using small, non-pressurized planes
- Orientation is held on Tuesday and Wednesday
- Main duties include managing clinic operations, leading the therapy team, supporting medical staff, and providing direct patient care as needed
- Responsible for overseeing department revenue and expenses to maintain financial viability
- Must demonstrate strong communication skills across interdisciplinary teams and with culturally diverse patients
- Shared hospital housing with private bedroom and common spaces is provided; no dogs allowed
- Flight reimbursement provided for economy-class travel, with the facility assisting with airport pickup upon arrival
- Detailed flight itinerary and receipts must be submitted one week before the assignment begins
- Compliance with all corporate, state, and federal guidelines for physical therapy practice is required
- Active Alaska license as a Physical Therapist in good standing
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited Physical Therapy program
- Minimum four years of recent full-time patient care experience
- Previous managerial experience preferred
- Current BLS certification required for the duration of the position
- Demonstrated ability with IV/central line site care, fall precautions, age-specific competencies, abuse/neglect, pain management, blood transfusions, and related clinical skills
- Ability to effectively use office and physical therapy department equipment
- Proficiency with MS Excel and Power Point
- Must pass a math test on medication calculations for adults and pediatrics prior to beginning work
