Job Description

Located in a K-12 school, the Food Service Worker position performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties in a commercial kitchen, storeroom, dining, or serving area.

Responsibilities

• Wash objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc. and store them in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner.
• Maintain a variety of products at specific levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines.
• Stock storage areas with various products.
• Clean, sweep, wipe down, etc. all general dining, kitchen, or storage areas (in some cases), spike rooms, and equipment as well as all floors.
• Remove garbage from assigned areas, set up or break down tables, snack bars, display cases, serving lines, etc.
• Assist with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.
• Assist cooks and others as needed and coordinate one's own activities with others.
• May occasionally prepare food or cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
• Other duties that pertain to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS's vehicle insurance policy.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least one (1) year of work experience or documented vocational training sufficient to demonstrate knowledge of cleaning equipment, food preparation, and general cleaning processes or a suitability for this type of work preferred.
